Vinegar Health Tonic

You may have seen apple cider vinegar drinks all over the internet. Drink this every day... What happened when I drank this... What's that all about? There are lots of health claims when it comes to vinegar. While most of the purported benefits are anecdotal, mostly due to a lack of scientific studies, the fact is a lot of people have seen a benefit. I suppose it is because a Western diet is for the most part, a diet of dead food. Adding, a variety of raw, living foods to our diet on a regular basis will benefit us. Raw, organic, unfiltered vinegar contains beneficial bacteria, phytochemicals and acids that help us absorb nutrients and digest food. That in turn, benefits our overall health.

Raw Vinegar Health Tonic

1 Serving

  • 1 cup non-chlorinated water

  • 1 tsp. organic raw apple cider vinegar, or this vinegar

  • 1 tsp. raw honey, or pure, organic maple syrup

  • Frozen fruit, optional

1. Mix water, vinegar and sweetener.

2. Add a few pieces of frozen fruit, if desired.

Notes

If your vinegar is home produced the acidity may be different than store purchased; so add to taste.

I add frozen fruit like I would ice cubes, they give it a slight hint of flavor; more the longer it sits. They also give it a little variety. If you would like more fruit flavor, mix it up the night before and let it steep in the fridge.

Sweetener is optional, but makes it more pleasant to drink, add more or less to taste.

I know of some people who drink straight shots of vinegar. While raw, organic and unfiltered vinegar is healthy, undiluted vinegar can be hard on your tooth enamel. It's best to consume in diluted form.

You don't need to limit yourself to 1 cup per day, you can drink as much of this as you enjoy throughout the day. You can mix up a big batch in your water bottle, or in your fridge.

You can adjust the amount of vinegar, water and sweetener to your taste preference.
