Pumpkin Smoothie

I often put a little pumpkin in my smoothie, but the thing is, pumpkin is a pretty neutral taste. It's easily overpowered by other flavors; which is fine, when I am just putting pumpkin in a smoothie for extra nutrition. For this smoothie I wanted something with more of a pumpkin flavor. Almost like pumpkin pie in a glass. At first I used frozen bananas as the fruit, but the banana completely overpowered the pumpkin, so I turned to mango for a more balanced flavor.

Pumpkin Smoothie

  • 1 cup raw milk, kefir or yogurt

  • 2/3 cup organic, pumpkin puree

  • 1 cup organic frozen mangoes, or a tropical fruit mix

  • 1/2 tsp. pumpkin spice, or cinnamon

  • 3 Tbsp. organic, pure maple syrup, or to taste

  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice, or to taste

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

1. Place ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.

NOTES

Kefir and yogurt will give smoothie a more tart taste.

You could use sweet potato, or another winter squash in place of the pumpkin.

You can substitute date paste to taste, in place of the maple syrup.
