Apple Cranberry Drink

Mulled apple cider is a popular drink for the holidays; however, I wanted to create a drink that used fresh apples in place of apple cider. This apple cranberry drink is perfect for a cold, snowy day: comfort in a glass! I think a little fruit in each serving gives it a fun and festive touch.

Apple Cranberry Drink

  • 1 cup whole fresh cranberries

  • 3 organic apples, diced with skin on

  • 1 organic orange, with rind, 1 slice

  • 1 1/2 tsp. RealTaste Peace seasoning, or to taste

  • 2 quarts water

  • 1/2 cup organic, pure maple syrup, or to taste

1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sized pot.

2. Bring to a boil.

3. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

4. You can serve with fruit in, or strained out. You can also serve it warm or cold.

5. The maple syrup tends to settle to the bottom, so give it a stir before serving.

NOTES

The type of apples you use will affect the taste. Tart green apples for example will also make for a more tart taste and you may find you need to add more sweetener.

The color of the apple peel will affect the color of the liquid after cooking. Green apples will give it a more pale pink color, red apples will give it a darker red color.

Please use an organic orange and apples, if possible. You will be using the peel where most of the pesticides collect so it is especially important.

You can keep this warm for a party in a slow cooker set to warm.
