Muesli

This is one of our favorite breakfasts. My kids often pack it up for a snack. One daughter takes extra for her friend who also likes when I make muesli. It's a winner!

Muesli

  • 2 C. organic rolled oats, uncooked

  • 1 C. raw milk

  • 1-2 C. raw yogurt, or thick kefir

  • Maple syrup, or honey to taste

  • Fruit: any fruit that you enjoy such as, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, diced apple, bananas, peaches, mangoes etc. You can even use defrosted frozen fruit; just place in a bowl in the fridge at night and drain excess liquid in the morning before adding to oat mixture.

  • Soaked and dehydrated nuts/seeds, optional

  1. Stir together oats and milk

  2. Mix well and press down the oats

  3. Cover with an airtight lid and soak 12-24 hours

  4. In the morning, add yogurt and sweetener to taste

  5. Add fruit and mix well

  6. Enjoy!

TIPS

  • I really don't measure anything except for the oats and yogurt. You can do any amount just as long as you soak the oats in 1/2 the amount of raw milk. In the morning, add yogurt to the consistency you like, sweetener and fruit.

  • I like to use thick cut, organic rolled oats.

  • I like my muesli creamy, so I usually go with more yogurt rather than less.

  • Our favorite combination is mixed berry, diced banana, diced apple, and nuts, but we also love peaches and other fruit. This is a dish that is perfect for using up the odds and ends of fruit that you have at the end of the week.
