Chocolate Fudge or Fat Bombs

Whatever you choose to call this, it is delicious! It also has ingredients that you can feel good about. This is a good little energy pick me up with the coconut oil and soaked/dehydrated nuts for sustained energy and cacao and maple syrup for quick energy.

  • 3/4 Cup Organic, Coconut Oil, melted

  • 3/4 Cup Organic, Raw Cacao Powder

  • 1 1/4 Cup Organic, Pure Maple Syrup

  • 2 Tbsp. Vanilla

  • 1/4 tsp. Sea Salt

  • Add-Ins: Nuts, dried fruit; optional

  1. Measure coconut oil and cacao into a medium sized mixing bowl.

  2. Add maple syrup, vanilla and salt. Mix well.

  3. Stir in nuts and any other additional mix-ins you would like.

  4. Pour into a 8x8 pan greased with coconut oil, or parchment paper if you would like to lift it out and cut into squares.

  5. Top with nuts, if desired.

  6. Cover and store in refrigerator until firm. Remove just before serving as it tends to become more soft at room temperature.

  7. After it has chilled and set up, you can roll it into balls with a very small ice cream/cookie scoop. Then roll in nuts, coconut, or anything else you desire.


  • I usually use an immersion blender, but you could use a blender, or whisk. An immersion blender does; however, thicken it slightly as it emulsifies the fat just a bit.

  • It will thicken and firm up in the fridge.

  • You can add more or less maple syrup according to your tastes.

  • Cayenne, cinnamon, and black pepper are all fun additions that you can experiment with. Cayenne gives it a little interesting heat. It is also good for your circulation. Cinnamon is nice paired with chocolate and pepper brings out the flavor of chocolate.

  • If the flavor is too chalky from the raw cacao, heat the coconut oil to melt it. Add cacao to the oil to heat it a bit, which will take away the chalkiness, and mix well before adding remaining ingredients. It also tastes less chalky after it has chilled and set in the fridge.

  • I have tried this in molds, but it doesn't set up firm enough, even if frozen. It is the consistency of fudge.

  • Try this with a little drop of mint extract, or another extract for a change of flavor.
